Are you pulling your money from the market?
With many major markets going down (Auto sales, etc) & all the talk of a crash, are you keeping your $ in or pulling it & waiting for the crash to reinvest?
Housing bubble also has to pop sooner rather than later. I've pulled 99% of my money out. Not that I have any amount worth talking about in there anyway... I'm hoping I can buy another house when the bubble pops & maybe finally pick up the right classic car then too as everyone watches too much BJ right now. |

My investing mantra is simple: Don't just do something, stand there!
60/40 ultra low cost index funds. Very little cash. My money is always working. “Far more money has been lost by investors trying to anticipate corrections, than lost in the corrections themselves.” Peter Lynch |

I think it'd be pretty difficult to not make money in the market over the past 10 years.
I'm a Boglehead and stick to the three fund portfolio. https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Three-fund_portfolio |

Over the past 10 years you'd really have to work hard to lose money.

FSKAX Total Market (US) FSPSX Total International FMBIX Fidelity Muni Bond (taxable account) Most of my bonds are in my 401k which doesn't have a great bond fund. DODIX Dodge & Cox Income I am a boglehead as well. I am the worst stock picker/market timer in the history of investing, so I went this direction 6 years ago and love it. I like being average which beats 90% of all active funds over the long term. |

Coming out of index funds and similar funds, buying equities - dividend stocks (good ones) in retirement (tax deferred) accounts; growth in other accounts. part of a long term rotation for me as I near retirement age.
I am a long term (10+ years outlook) investor; when the market dips I buy more, otherwise try to buy one or two new positions each week if I can. |

"cash under the mattress" not really but I'm debt free not so much by choice (health scare) this year made me change my plans I payed off most of my loans, plenty of cheap loans over the years maximizing my liquid funds to invest and plenty of cash made in the market since my mid 20s (10 years)
Edit: for my personal situation, I don't mean to sound like a bitch (know it all) truly to each their own Off topic: Retiring soon @ 40, my income from my rental properties is fine for me I'm not like some people that have/want acres and acres of land in Tennessee or vehicle lifts in my personal garage... I still go to Costco, wife is fine with TJ max and Nordstrom Rack, we go out to dinner 3 or 4 times a week https://paulocoelhoblog.com/2015/09/...e-businessman/ Before I expire, 10, 20 maybe 30 years I want to enjoy my life and not worry about money so much |

Holding in for now and putting more in every now and then. Agree with folks above about it being really hard to lose money on a 10yr + horizon.
Personal finances are just that, its really personal to one's own situation. What works for one may not work for the other one. I think mainly about what helps me sleep peacefully at night !! My current approach lets me do just that so to each his own !! Cheers !! |

My plan is to do the same thing I've been doing since my first "real" job after college in 1996: Nothing.
I've been putting money into the market every single week, since 1996, regardless of market activity. I'm too ignorant and definitely too unlucky to try to "time" the market. So I'll just keep dropping funds in once a week like I have for 23 years. |
