Would you guys recommend gintani tune. It seems pretty good and alot of guys loved it. Does anyone have a bad experience with this tune? And their burble is crazy flames.

Alpine and BPM are the go to tunes on this forum. Users of both are happy, and the tunes seem identical. I went Alpine. Not familiar with Gintani tunes really.
Burbles are silly, catless is stupid. Rasp, smell, pollution, excessive volume, and emissions trouble all for the sake of a couple HP you can’t feel? Pass. |

I have a Turner tune that I purchased a few years a go, it's awesome I have no complaints about it. I was playing with the launch control for the 6MT the other day and have done a lot of track time with it without any issues. But they have a group buy going right now for the alpine tune for $490. If I were to do it again I'd be all over it for that price!!

I've been running the gintani tune for 2 years now. At the time of purchase I got the stock map, burble 91 catless tune and 91 catless no burble tune. I run the burble once and a while but mostly run the 91 no burble map. No complaints, they drive and perform the same just without the burble option. Mpg is definitely effected with the burble on though.

Trends change. burble tunes had its time but does seem recently many people go without it.
Alpine, dinan, BPM are the common vendors that's pop up recently. I think a lot of it has to do with recent group buys, sales, and simply lowering of prices. I'm not sure what the gintani sells for.

Go with Alpine or BPM, they have amazing customer service. Something that Dinan lacks big time. They are cheaper and can also do the burble if that's what you want.
As others have said, do not run a burble tune on a car with primary cats. You will ruin them. The burble is also known to ruin o2 sensors over time. If you're set on the burble, have your tuner send you 2 files. One with and one without. |

I just did an Alpine tune after I put on my Akra x-pipe. Very easy to do and the stage 2 tune makes the car run like a rapped ape! Alex is pretty tentative and usually responds quickly to inquiries. He'll give you a list of options so you can customize the car to your liking. I'd stay away from burbles unless your like 22 and think it's cool. Not my cup of tea with that. Just my two cents...

I've had BPM & Gintani's and stayed with Gintani's tune. Have various different files too from Gintani. I'd be cautious with the burble tune in public though. Let a friend drive my car once and I was about 3 car lengths behind him and I can feel the pops as if they were hitting my chest. This was the extreme burble, I think the regular burble is more tame. It is fun though shooting flames and popping. To each their own.
Tunes are subjective. To be honest, "stage 2" tunes are all the same. I doubt you would feel a difference between each main stream tuner. |

Should be the same as any tune file from Gintani. I'd wait for a flash sale. I think its around $650 for a tune file with the sale. When I originally bought my tune from them they gave me a separate stage 2 no burble tune at no additional cost. I'd get at least an additional non burble tune because I'm not sure if its just my extreme file but the downshifts between 2.5k-4k lurch. It can get annoying when dailying. I asked Alex about it and he just said its the aggressiveness from the extreme burble trying to pop at low RPM. Sounds awful. If I were to try and give an example, it sounds like turbo surge. Don't get me wrong, turbo surge sounds great in a motor like a 2j, but not an NA V8 lol. It's really weird.
The regular burble is much more tame and only pops between 5k til rev limit. I think if you request at what RPM you want it to burble Alex can do that for you. I read somewhere on this forum that someone requested a custom file that burbled at pretty much every RPM besides idle lol. Last edited by yidgyi; 01-27-2019 at 01:12 AM.. |
