2011 E90 M3 Blackstone report at 73k
So ive had my m3 for 5 months now and put 3500 miles on the oil and wanted to get an idea of wear even though its a 2011 with the oem tin/aluminum rod bearings.
If im reading this correctly I noticed the 10w-60s viscosity is climbing towards the lower end of the ideal range which suggests that 5k oil intervals might be right.. |

I've done 2 RB changes and I've always been a 5k oil changer and my shells looked great the last change. I really think our oil goes to shit fast and I would never go the current 10,000 or old 15,000 Change interval.

It’s not news that TWS shears pretty quickly to a 50 weight. But if some people are going to lower weight oils in order to protect their bearings, why would a longer OCI have a downside on bearing wear? I’m in no way suggesting >5K OCIs, I just don’t see how longer OCIs will wear bearings.
