after stop and go traffic (with my 5 gal ice box) I saw 30+ degrees over ambient temps. the longer the drive, the higher the temp increases. this is due to the manifold and the aluminum ice box not being able to deflect heat. with the oem ess kit (small plastic res.) in stop and go traffic it's about 20 degrees above ambient once other fluids are at operating temps. the cooler the ambient, the longer the intake temps take to get to the 20 degree delta... ice box- 90 deg ambient, 120+ AIT displayed on P3 ess res.- 90 deg ambient, 110 AIT displayed on P3 I think the only solution is another heat exchanger. my plans are for another heat exchanger with two small fans drawing air. if you look at the turbo m4s/m3s there are a few heat exchangers....

Yeah my delta are sometimes 60 degrees, I'm not sure what is up.
I have an ice tank, no ice, bilge pump My lines do run on the frame rails near the headers, I wonder if that's heating things. I may reroute down the drive shaft tunnel Just checking the P3 doesn't have to be calibrated for AIT does it? |

Turns out the bilge pump wasn't running. Took it apart and the commutator was caked with carbon from the brushes. FYI the unit is a hunk of shit and not built to last, very disappointed; it's not easy popping in and out, either

Hrmm how are you guys IAT so low using the stock ESS cooling?
During my morning commutes, my P3 gauge shows roughly 50 degF above ambient towards the end of the drive. This is in 45 minutes of stop and go traffic. My pump is working and flows as it should (like a garden hose, how ESS describes a properly working pump). The past couple of days it's been around 75 degF ambient and IAT shows 125degF.

On the drive home today temps were 35-37 degF above ambient of 92 degF cruising mostly 40-50mph. I'm guessing the delta gets smaller the hotter the ambient temp gets? Never really looked at temps before - I think the P3 gauge has made me more paranoid lol.

Hey guys just saw this post. Yeah I added an edelbrock additional heat exchanger (HE) and replaced my stock ESS HE. I'm running the stock bosche (which I found out today is dying-ish by unhooking the bilge to bleed the system after fixing a leak) and a rule bilge in the ice tank. I run about 30 degrees IAT putzing around. It creaps in traffic but drops when going. it's the heat soak problem. It would be cool to put a heat deflector on the bottom of the intake intercooler. Dumping ice in the ice tank btw is crazy. It makes significantly more power.
FYI, I logged some temps a while back when I played with the reverse flow of the system. It's best for normal driving with the original circuit so the HE'S drop the temp before the intake. The edelbrock I think dropped it like 5-9F. I chopped up my crash support and it sits right behind my hood latch. I'd post pics but it's such a pain to resize. haha. I'm lazy.
