Agreed. I ran M1 0W-40 for nearly double the length (9700 miles) and my viscosity was still 12.23 cSt (~34 SAE) compared to your 11.18 cSt (~30.8 SAE). Maybe my extra lead and iron were contributing to the higher viscosity though

Might be because we had like a month of 100+ degree weather here recently?

That's what always worried me, maybe M1 is better for the bearings but what what about the rest of the engine?
Maybe more frequent oil changes?
I hate bearings...

This report seems to be an outlier if you compare it to the numerous other reports in the UOA thread.

Damn I don't care how bad you beat on your car. The bearings should not eat themselves. Thats oil starvation or lack of lubrication.... either way it shouldn't happen.

Yah I'm not concerned about the shearing since this does seem like an anomaly. That and I'm fine with doing 6k oil changes.

since i've owned the car i've sent 3 samples into blackstone. The first time my numbers were great I think my lead read 3 then the 2nd reading it was 28, and the third was 12. What that means I have no idea... I honestly don't know what to do at this point.

It's perplexing to say the least. I think we all feel your pain. It could go either way.

The bottom line for me is to enjoy the car and try to catch it before something catastrophic. I'm collecting the parts, bolts, bearings, etc..

~$1000 in labor when the time comes.

That's the plan. But it could blow up!! Maybe my bearings look terrible with 118,000 miles, but it's "happy". WTF....

OP, are you really burning through 4qts of oil? I'd be more worried about that than the bearings.

I've been averaging around 1qt of oil every 1.8k miles in the last ~21k miles.
It's a bit of a pain to have to keep adding oil but I believe the official statement from BMW is that burning 1qt every 600-700 miles is actually acceptable.

Not unless I see something concerning come up on an oil analysis

Do any high stress usage (track, driving events, etc...)?

If so, I would look at perhaps changing your bearings, as you might have more worn bearings which might have stabilized with normal usage, it could prove problematic with high stress, low oil situations.
