Another M3 or GTR thread
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=124681
Well I figured the GTR was out of the question since I didn't want to pay 20K over invoice but with this new article, it looks like Nissan is taking safeguards to ensure that it doesn't get marked up too much. Since the car already comes nearly fully loaded, it turns out to be closer in price to the M3 than we all thought out the door. This makes it a much more difficult choice. Originally I figured 70K M3 or 90K GTR with all the markups Now it looks like a 70K M3 or 73K GTR (assuming 2K markup) Does this give anybody 2nd thoughts about the M3? |

Interesting article actually. I wonder how much Nissan will "let them get away with" and what they plan to do to discourage high mark ups. My guess is 10k over will still happen. I wonder if any of the 691 dealers are actually planning to sell at MSRP? Either way, the waitlist for the car is probably pretty long as things are right now.

The $10-25k mark-up will not matter because if you aren't way high on the list, you won't even be seeing the opportunity to get one of these. What are they quoting, 1000-1500 imported the entire first model year? I bet these are sold on e-Bay "used" for $30-50k over MSRP.
Try to get an Audi R8 on Autotrader for less than $30-50k over sticker. |

Nissan doesn't mark up their cars $10-20k over. The dealerships won't get away with it.
Some will be asking that much, but the cars that are actually sold will not be sold way over MSRP. At most, $5k over if they're lucky. Now a company like Porsche, BMW or MercBenz can easily get away with $10-20k over MSRP because they're premium luxury brands. |

There won't be a $15-25k mark-up. This came from the owner's mouth. |

This thread demands pics of GT-R's with/without the "Dealer Markup" sticker next to the official price sticker. If only..

Nagtroc.com/forums has several people in with MSRP orders.
My long time GT-R fan and forum participant take: GT-R's will be available at MSRP if you are willing to wait up to a year, and wise-well do so anyway to avoid the 1st teething issues. |

I frequently check out that forum as well. There are several buying at MSRP, but several isn't 1500, yet. I hope that these cars are sold at MSRP. It simply comes to to supply and demand. If the following is very high and Nissan keeps our yearly allocations to 1500, then there very well may be mark ups. With as few as 1500 cars per year dealers and speculators can essentially control the market. No one knows if this will happen or not. Presently there are about 700 +/- of the 1069 dealers participating in the program. There was/is a $25,000 program fee plus training and equipment (a special alignment rack is required too.) so the fees add up quickly. I do think that numerous dealers will still try to get big mark ups. Of course, time typically heals everything. Last edited by devo; 02-13-2008 at 02:38 PM.. |

I just received a call from my Nissan dealer today. I gave them my specs (pre-order form) in the hopes of getting my color choices and options. Nissan then takes the data and makes an attempt to get the dealer that car. Right now, it is unknown if buyers will get what they want. I sure hope so.
