Does carbon fiber hood kill?
I've heard this a few times from different people, but has it happened before?
I heard if you get into an accident in your front end, the carbon fiber hood will cut through the windshield and cut you in the chest, is it true?

Where did you read this? My guess is that it could happen. My question is, what's the probability? Have you noticed that you are driving with gasoline tank 2 ft away from you? It could explote and burn your ass!!!!

Not that likely. If you have that bad of an accident the engine sitting on your lap is more of a concern up until tecently. Doubt metal or cf would cut the a pillar to get to you and cf would seem to want to splinter moat likely with that much force.

But CF is CF. F1 cars are certainly more rigid and take a lot more stress to fail, but mode of failure and what happens at failure is the same.

Depends on the manufacturing process as well. CF used for the monocoque frames in, say, a McLaren or Koenigsegg are going to have different thresholds of failure compared to CF used to make a cosmetic hood. CF isn't always going to be stronger than steel. There are plenty of variables.

CF
New M3/M4 does have CF trunk but not the CF hood. The designer told (in a magazine) that in the event of collision the CF hood might cause fatal damage to the opponent (not to the M driver) of the other vehicle.

Dumb question here, but don't you think BMW designs the cars to avoid that sort of thing? And don't you think crash testing would expose a huge flaw like that?
CF is strong, but it's not indestructible. It will buckle, crack, or shatter from the right kind of impact. Also, the windshield is safety glass for extra protection.
