Track/Course: Road Atlanta
Lap Time: 1:41.00 Brake Pads: StopTech ST-60/40: Pagid RS29 Tires (Size & Model): BFG R1S 265/35/18 square, Apex Arc-8s Suspension: GC camber plates -2.6F/-2.0R; stock springs & struts Other Mods: filter, BPM tune Rainy weekend at Road Atlanta with Chin Motorsports the week before the Petit LeMans, running in a very fast Red group. Many race teams out testing including Porsche and Lamborghini. 1:41 flat was a couple seconds off best pace but had to slow to allow traffic by (that pair of Lambos were flying!). Virtual best was 1:37.77. A fun day despite the rain. Can't wait to see the race next weekend!

Another shameless plug from a smug N54 driver
![]() Track/Course: Road America Lap Time: 2:37.65 Brake Pads: Stock setup, PFC 08 pads, solid brake guide bushings Tires (Size & Model): Hankook R-S3 V2, 265/35R18 & 275/35R18 Suspension: vorshlag camber plates, TC K DA, all M3 control arms, LSD Pretty happy with the time considering it is my first time at the track. Did suffer some casualty though, my CIC unit crapped out and was constantly rebooting itself at the track (had to tape the screen over so it doesn't distract me). Brand new PFC08 pads are completely worn down to the backing plates, and was smoking at the end of 4th session of the 2nd day...

They are not too bad when they are new. But after some track time, they are ridiculously loud...even with the windows up. Not so bad on the rotors, but again I don't drive the car that much on the streets. But even with these pads, the front brakes only last about 1.5 day on this track... The FR brakes were smoking at the end of my last session, which I assume it is the dustboots burning up from the lack of thermal mass with the fully worn down pads. My current setup worked great at other slower tracks (GMR, ACC), guess doing hot laps at RA is just asking too much out of them I suppose. Think I just gonna bite the bullet and get a front BBK for next year. Rear axles are doing totally fine though. I have been running the same PFC08 pads at the rear for this entire season (6 track days) now, and they are only down to 30% after RA.

I max out in the straights at a higher mile per hour than you but your lap times are lower, so I need better pads, but I don't want to have to swap them out on the streets, so my Hawk Street-race are ok for now, but clearly I need better braking. I'm doing ACC/GMR, and RPI next year. If you liked Ginerman, then you should try RPI in Iowa. It was also designed by Alan Wilson, but is a much more fun track than Gingerman.

Sleeper519 and I are very evenly matched and we played around a fair bit many sessions. As an instructor we can take out a passenger in the A Group too (add more weight). Did a 3 day event last year maximizing every single session (a few back to back also between I group and A/B group with a student) at Road ATL in a 3900lb car with driver zero fade, zero issue. PFC rotors, PF08 or Pagid yellows with Castrol SRF. Think fronts had more than 50% left. Stock system runs like a solid champ all day long. Can get an average of six track days for the fronts. Stock rear rotors with 08s or PYellows. Lutfy PS: got rid of the solid pins as it froze all four of my calipers! especially due to street driving (rain/snow etc.). |

Never had problem with my solid pins though, and I drive the car in the winter as well. Ceramic lube help I think.

I have cobb on my FBO 335I 6AT, and with the 19lb boost race gas map, I was like around 410whp like you, but my E92 M3 can beat it from a roll, no problem.

eitherway Cloud9 now has the best time out of any E9X at RA in this thread, with 2.37 beating out Klammer's 2:38. Good Job

Yup that was me! Discovered my car had clogged secondary cats too during that event, I barely made it home before it started almost stalling out. Couldn't accelerate to save my life up the esses ![]() Since then have rebuilt the dampers, added a custom dual core oil cooler with ducting, and added harder front control arm bushings, which is the single best mod I have done to the car (and cheap too). But the best part is besides the brakes, the car looks totally stock from the outside and under the hood. Next time you see me out at the track please stop by and say hi! From what I can guess, 2:15ish or even quicker (I swear to God I was there on the track and saw all of this) look at his Mid Ohio times above. Absolutely mental! Lutfy |

Here is a 1:44 flat at mid ohio. That GTR that blew me away is insanely fast. Cobb tuned 600whp. I have him in the corners though. Here is me chasing a GT4 but over driving and making a lot of mistakes. Get passed by a lot of cool hardware including a cup car, a few GTR race cars, etc. There were only a couple of non-stripped dedicated track cars in the group. There was a really cool E92 M3 here running 1:38 on hoosiers. I don't think it is in the video but he was completely gutted, full caged, full carbon aero, BBK front and rear with bimmerworld CF backing plates and custom ducting, data acquisition, James Clay built and tweaked. Extremely awesome car. These are both in the instructor 1 group with MORPCA. I have a friend who has a supercharged E36 M3 with aero (he was with me at Watkins running the instructor group, ran a 2:10 flat his first time at the track - you might remember him because his corner headlights fell out on track and they made fun of him in the drivers meeting) drive my car and he was running down race prepped Caymans that were towed there in semi trucks. He is a way better driver than me. According to GPS data my optimal lap time at Mid Ohio club configuration is a mid 1:41. I think I will need to be much more patient on the throttle and have slower corner entry to even approach that. I always thought this was a funny picture...at Putnam with 10/10ths ![]() Last edited by Jon@NL; 10-06-2015 at 09:44 AM.. |

The guy's running NT01's on all wheel drive. So yes, he should have fast times.
