"vs" Mclaren P1
Oh god this thing is exciting.
Years ago when hybrid tech was first out I feared that it marked the eventual death of the performance road car. Sincere thank you to the Mclaren's and Ferrari's of the world for using it as a mechanism to actually increase performance (along with efficiency). This whole concept of "torque fill" and using the electric power to mask the inherent gaps in turbo engines... I'm in love. I can't wait for this to filter down to M3 world. I'd like to bypass the upcoming turbo era and get to the really good stuff.

all these new technology is great. but i am still waiting for long term longevity and reliability to fully come on board.
one thing though. exhuast sound (tone and volume) has decreased, and engine turbo sound has increased. trade offs |

Harris seems to imply that this is a league above 918. We'll see what the theferrari has in store, but I don't find that car nearly as attractive as the P1.

You were talking with me about maybe moving on from the M3, so see you @ Gingerman with one this summer then?

Right, nothing specific. I see Josh at some track events. Figured I'd see him at Gingerman sometime this season. Get out there with us. I do hope to coordinate an early spring rental again this year.

Congratulations Keith! Time for a 3rd car seat and a bigger tent then. We'll identify some dates. No 3x dad track day discrimination.

You should join us on some track days this season Mike! Your car will appreciate it after the tough winter.
I'm really curious what's happening with the LaFerrari in the midst of all this "raising the bar" hypercar press. Has anyone outside of Ferrari driven it yet? |

The P1 reviews seemed to be quite delayed, specs and performance data guarded by both Mclaren and Ferrari with these cars. No ring times. F1 rivalry carried over. Ironic considering both models sold out immediately upon news of release -- don't think any orders would be cancelled because one car is 1/100 second slower to 185 mph...
