Easy Care Quote - Opinions on Coverage & Price?
My car is coming up on her 4th birthday and has just over 45k miles. After looking into it, the BMW extended warranty pricing seemed excessive to me. Here are the numbers I got from my local Easy Care http://www.easycare.com/ dealer (not BMW); I'll be able to service the car at BMW or any other shop I choose. I thought this might be good information for others considering the same thing in the near future.
For a 4yr/100,000 Total Care pricing would be as follows: 100 ded/ $6706 250 ded/ $5137 500 ded/ $4194 For a 3/85,000 Total Care pricing would be as follows: 100 ded/ $4015 250 ded/ $3183 500 ded/ $2682 For a 4/100,000 Stated Care pricing would be as follows: 100 ded/ $4521 250 ded/ $3551 500 ded/ $2968 For a 3/85,000 Stated Care pricing would be as follows: 100 ded/ $2865 250 ded/ $2341 500 ded/ $2032 http://www.easycare.com/ExtendedWarr...tatedCare.aspx http://www.easycare.com/ExtendedWarr...TotalCare.aspx The website says Total Care covers "more than 100 additional components". I've asked the guy to prepare a couple contracts for me, so I can read through them to better understand the real difference between these two options. At the moment, I'm leaning toward the 3 yr / 85k mile Stated Care with the $250 deductible. We'll see if more research changes my mind. I've heard lots of good things about Easy Care on this forum and others, and also from a guy who used to work at my company. Does anyone have any negative experiences with the company and their coverage, or any opinion on Stated Care vs. Total Care? Thanks.

I cant really answer your specific coverage and difference on Stated v Total questions, but I may be able to help in another way...
As a service advisor, and dealing with a lot of ext warr companies... EasyCare and Fidelity are the two best (their top plans), from my experience. They tend to be more expensive than most other companies, but I've seen them cover things that A) they shouldnt, or B) things I'd never expect them to cover (ex: window moldings). They do not fight and haggle with dealer prices, like capping out at say $99/hour making you, the customer pay the difference in labor; and they send an inspector out in a reasonable amount of time. For what its worth, I'd rec to take to the top plan. Its never 100% certain they will cover something, but you're better safe than sorry with TotalCare.

Thanks for the feedback. At the coverage level I'm considering, and with how complex our cars are, $280 extra per year probably is worth it.

Quite a few BMW dealers sell Fidelity warranties instead of BMW warranties. Why ? Because they make more profit yet the Fidelity warranty costs less. Kind of makes you wonder. My advice fwiw is to get a BMW warranty from a BMW dealer that will discount it about 20%. Google. BMW isn't going bankrupt.

Just to report back on this, I went ahead and picked up EasyCare TotalCare (3 yrs, 85k miles, $500 deduct) for ~$2600 for some peace of mind and a hedge against any huge bill in the next few years.
Hope to get my money back by the end of it, but if not, I'll sleep better in the meantime and be happy my car's been reliable. If/when I have to make a claim, I'll let you all know how it goes.

I was in the same boat a few minutes ago until i read some horrible stories. Here is a link to the story.
http://www.ripoffreport.com/auto-war...e-wa-37a97.htm http://www.complaintsboard.com/compl...e-c278456.html Maybe this is just a few people who got screwed, so my advise is that do a little more research before buying from them. Oh never mind, you already purchased..good luck to you sir |

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but I see a lot of extended warranty posts lately (I'm in the boat now) and a lot of people suggesting Easycare but of course have my reserves. I talked to a rep from Rallye BMW and they said that the Easycare plan they sell is actually more than the BMW plan. Also, has anyone actually made a claim with Easycare? How was the process? Do they also cover the navigation unit as part of the totalcare?

I had EasyCare on my E90 while I owned it. Used it twice and it was great both times. Sold it when I sold the car and got a great pro-rated refund. Larger than expected and actually the cost of repairs + refund > what I paid to start. *shrug*

I just talked to an Easycare agent today. He gave me a quote of 3yrs/75000 Stated Care for $2600. Car is 2010 E92 with 42000 miles. He told me that the rates increase with time so $2000 for 3yrs/85000 is impossible for now. Kind of jealous that your plan is so much cheaper.

FWIW I paid $3100 for 3/85000/$250 ded Totalcare from a local dealer. Car was 1 month from losing factory warranty. The prices are most definitely negotiable as they first wanted 3400.

What is covered in Total Care exclusively? I don't really know what they mean by "over 100 additional components." I thought the Stated Plan would work out fine since it covers all the electronics. Should I switch to the Total Care?

Sorry for the dumb question, but would an extended warranty still be available after putting on mods? Ie, mars performance led tails and an AA exhaust, etc. Are these extended warranties only available for cars that are 100% stock?
