Ohlins Road & Track DFV
Taking my car to BPC (Bimmer Performance Center in Raleigh, NC) to get these babies installed. Just in time for VIR HPDE with THSCC on April 6th/7th.
Huge thanks to Harold @ HP Autowerks for all the product information and answering my questions. Just sharing some unboxing porn for now. Will post detailed install photos from the shop in a few weeks.

I know this is very subjective, but the build quality is just amazing. They exude quality. I feel bad about getting these things dirty. Maybe I should just wall mount them hopefully they perform half as good as they look.

LOL its not really subjective when youre stating the truth... Ohlins are amazing in general... when i was shopping for coilovers and knew ohlins were gonna come out with an application for our cars, i wouldve waited forsure! i mean i dont regret my purchase as i think my coilovers arent bad themselves but i wouldve prefered ohlins..

Ohlins have some of the most beautiful build quality for suspension parts! Precision made in Japan. Very few components these days are built in Japan due to the high labor costs.
Wait until you drive on these. The ride quality and handling is exceptional. It's no wonder that many top end exotics like the Lamborghini, Ferrari and Pagani uses Ohlins. I miss my Ohlins DFV from my previous car.

I finally resolved my noise problem and the Ohlins are
now handling like a dream. The racket was caused by the spring shifting under load rubbing and popping against the camber plate perch. The shop who did the install didn't use the rubber spring isolator from stock struts and this is most definitely necessary! Had my first track wknd with the Ohlins and was stoked on the performance, much tighter and controlled than stock zcp. I think they really nailed it for road and track dual duty setup.

The black rubber isolator over the spring seat is the part in question. That must be transfer over to the Vorshlag plates.

Yes, this is an excellent feature as it prevents the loading and unloading of the spring to adjust ride height. The only other system with this feature is the AST 4200/4250. |
