All I can say on the hybrid Taurus/Lexus, owners can be somewhat inventive. Not necessarily in a good way.
Let's hope for a Pats victory. It should be a very competitive game. I feel a lot better about our defense but Baltimore is playing very well. |

What do you guys do for washing your car this time of year?
I either end up going to a nearby touchless wash or a nearby gas station that has wash bays. I first rinse off all the salt and crud using a low pressure rinse. Then I'll finish up washing the car. It does a decent job, but still not like a true hand wash with sponges.

But touchfree wash combined with some cleaning afterwards is probably your best option if you don't want to visit a detailer all the time

So guys I have been in TX for about 48 hours and I have seen more Ms, AMGs and Porsches than you can shake a stick at...can't blame them when it's freaking 70s in January...
Seriously I love New England and all, but you can't can't beat this climate |

I saw a all stock white with CF roof in Bangor last week. Probably some old guy but was in my X5 as there was a couple feet of snow on the ground.

After living in Alaska, you learn real fast how to do things warmer. New England people should already know this common sense stuff.

But if you own one in NE it is unique. Not many M3's here I think I've only seen 1 in the last year. I've seen 1 GT-R in last year and no other super cars.

True. There is this rich retired lawyer up here in BFE Maine and he owns a 2009 Audi R8, 1990 Ferrari Maranello, and AMG Mercedes. Sick cars. You should have seen his Audi R8 in -8 degree weather and snow and ice all over his car. lol However it is a retreat house with no garage. They went back to New York for the Winter.

I agree, even in the summer months, the E9x M3's are rare around here. Plenty of pony cars and Porsche variants.

I see them pretty frequently in Boston, less in the suburbs. Two weeks ago, I saw 2 other M3's, a new M5, and a beautiful red C63 Black Series all on the same day. The C63 BS was sitting in the parking garage at the Prudential, it looked like an absolute beast. I am kicking myself for not snapping a picture.

Yes the M is a bit unique in this area. By no means in mass production like 911s are. The black series is a mean looking vehicle, but seems a little dicey to drive in this cold weather if you ask me.
Guys anyone around next weekend for trying to do a little get together? |

If you are looking for a great "Touch Free" car wash, the best I have found thus far is the Barn Car wash in Saugus, MA http://www.barncarwash.net/saugus-ma...h-packages.htm on Route 1 North. Their $14.00 wash includes circular wheel cleaning brushes (one on each side) that cleans the wheels and is the only thing that touches the car (if you choose that option). Pretreating the wheels with Sonax before entering also helps if the wheels are very dirty. The Touch Free is also open 24hours a day. Last edited by MJM; 01-26-2013 at 09:03 PM.. Last night I got to test out my Dunlop Wintersport 3D's which was fun. There is a huge open and unplowed parking lot at work. I used it as a safe place to test braking and starting from a stop with traction on and off. I was impressed by how balanced and responsive the car was even with traction off.

The car does handle well in winter conditions with the right tires and of course driver operation. With the LSD it makes a big difference if you are skidding and keeps the car controllable

FWIW, here's my take on when people say "you have a M3 or RWD car, go luck driving that in the snow". With the proper snow tires, it can be a good winter vehicle. The limitation is ground clearance. But this would impact a lot of cars.
I have owned many high HP/torque RWD vehicles including BMW 530i/540i sport models, Infiniti M45 sport and Lexus IS350. I never had a problem getting around in the winter. Heck, last time I checked, most of the LEO's are driving Crown Vics or Chargers. Does an AWD vehicle have an advantage in the winter, yes. But most owners use all-season tires. Give me a RWD vehicle with a dedicated winter/summer setup. |
