cause you come to an enthusiast forum asking the most elementary questions about the most elementary cars as if you cant google things like the horsepower of an e90 335i.
i wasnt even trying to be a dick. just seems odd that youre even interested in a M3 based on the questions youve posed. |

Just find one in your area, and test drive it. If you like it, shop around for a deal. And don't get discouraged. People love to cry and spread FUD, but you'll be all right. Worst that can happen is you'll not like the car and re-sell it. Life goes on. -scheherazade |

Of all of the cars on that list, there is only 1 that you can maybe afford and it likely has stories due to the low mileage. You're better off getting the old model and choosing the color, transmission, options, etc. that you want. You you really want to sink that much more into a car and only have ONE to choose from? Bad idea IMO.

Budgets are a funny thing.
When you tell someone your budget, the assumption is that "that's all the money you've got". But really, it's "all the money you feel like spending on this particular item". Even in the worst case, as far as cars go, time grows budgets and shrinks prices. The guy could be a couple months from being comfortable buying something for 40... In any case, he wants help finding a car. Some people are comfortable buying something that others are not. He can make that choice for himself when he sees a given car in person, and makes an assessment. -scheherazade |

Although, after looking at all the links, what you said is completely, 100%, correct and im probably better off getting a 09-11 370z NISMO or a 06 E46 M3 in what ever color/transmission/every other thing u mentioned, that i want. Quote:
33k is the maximum limit i could be spending on "this" car that im discussing with you guys. BTW: to every single person who has posted on here, thank you very much for your help and kindness. This website has helped me learn about M3's SOOOOOOOOOOO much in a matter of a day. |

its one thing to afford the price of the car, another to afford its maintenance and its insurance. 335i vs m3 for insurance is slightly different and vastly different if there is any prior tickets on record. tires are also pricier than most 335i's as we have 19" wheels more than frequently it would seem than 18" lastly you have gas expenses. 335i = good on gas and good on performance m3 = terrible on gas and great on performance - i fill up about once every 4-5 days and i drive under 40 miles to and from work on the highway each day and factor in 10 miles of additional things for errands and food. so 50 miles a day and i average around 200-225 miles per tank. take the advice of others and wait for a little higher spending allowance or get the 335i which is an awesome car.

It gets even lower than that... You could find a steal in your area. Here's the end of the list (cheapest). Start here and search upwards/towards the head of the list, until you find something worth your time to check out. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...cord=601&Log=0 -scheherazade |

Don't forget to check out :
s2000 evo (9 and earlier) elise All fun cars, and you may find that some are hella more fun than you expected. (particularly an elise SC, but it's hard to find an SC for that budget.) -scheherazade |

my priority lineup is as followed: 1. 08 E92 M3 (SMG/Manual) in white or grey 2. 08 E90 M3 (SMG/Manual) in white or grey *Dont see my self getting any of those as i will NEED a car by the end of august and only have $33k to spend on the car itself (anyone popping into the thread now, this is the money i have to SPEND ON THE CAR ALONE. Many of you suggest maintenance/gas/tires/ect will be costly for me. I am aware of this and i have other expenses for these things, so just know that the $33k is my top limit for the car it self alone) 3. 09-11' 370z NISMO (manual only) in white only 4. 06' E46 M3 (SMG/Manual) in White, grey, or black 5. if it really has to come down to it, a 07/08 335i (33k wont be enough for an xi) w/ manual transmission in white, grey, or this crazy blue color i saw online called "Laguna Seca Blue" (if i find that on an E46 i would 100% take it over anything) But i really would leave the 335i as my last option as even the 06 E46 is better, performance wise, than it. Although it has the new body so it will be hard deciding between them 2. |

i just paid $37k for an 08 e92 M3 this week. 32K miles. Had an e92 335 and e90 335 prior to this.
M3 is hands down the sportier and more capable car. So far it gets better gas mileage than both, who would'a thought. |

If you want a great performance car for $33k, look at a Nissan 370Z. If you need a little more space, look at the Infiniti G37. You can get either one of these, 1-2 years old, with very low mileage, and without stretching your budget at all. Wait a little on the M3.

The E46 M3 is an amazing car, if you can get a Competition Package (ZCP, only 05-06) go for it, though I'd recommend a manual. Also, have you considered an E86 M Coupe? They're super fun to drive. I wouldn't consider a 335i, they're fast but not as fun IMHO.
