Can the dealer
install bmw app. I have 2011 e93. However was built on october 2010 prior to march 2011 app production models. I know there are after market places but anyone know if the dealer can just update and add the install?

BMW announced last week the availability of the OEM retrofit of BMW Apps. There is always BimmerTech as well: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548623 |

For those of us who live in third world countries, is there a press release or document with the announcement? My dealer tends to be a bit behind the curve and if I walk in and ask about the retrofit I expect a blank stare in return!

Thanks, I'm sure they have the same internet access but having been down this path before it can be like pulling teeth to get them up-to-date information. Usually easier to walk in with proof in hand than argue with some uninformed service advisor. Had the same issue in getting my iPod adaptor installed in my old 545.
As for finding a real dealer, then next closest dealer is 90 miles away. Unfortunately we are not in a large enough metro area to have mulitple BMW dealers to choose from. But thanks for the info, had not heard that BMW had announced the retrofit...

that is really great. just like asking for software update it is really hard to get these dealers to do the latest non major service things. please update that information for us and hope someone has done this and can give us a feedback.

Expect OEM retrofits to start being performed by the end of next month or so. |

My concern with going a non-OEM route (such as BimmerTech), is that my 6NR retrofit would get wiped out the first time the dealer updates my firmware. Are any US BMW dealers doing the retrofit yet?

6NR Codes from RealOEM
I just called my dealer (Tully BMW, Nashua, NH) and the parts people said they can't/won't install 61122295390 or 65902219127 (the 6NR cable and codes for BMW Apps). Has anyone had success with their BMW dealerships installing these codes? I purchased my 335is off the lot, and it didn't come with the feature.
Thanks, -- Dave |
