My mom is looking at new cars, I need some suggestions. She has been looking at crossovers. She is interested in the Nissan Juke but I think that thing is hideous and she will usually listen to what I have to say. When we go car shopping we don't even take my dad just me and my mom go haha.
Needs: -Good gas mileage as she will be putting a lot of miles on it for work -Reliability, low maintenance costs (obviously) -She likes having a sunroof -I think she should get navigation, like I said for work she will be driving a lot and in unfamiliar places. -She likes "peppy" cars so a small turbocharged engine should do nicely. Doesn't really want a Civic. She's a cheapskate so doesn't want to break the bank either. I would say realistically <$25k. My suggestions: Although it is not the biggest or fits her categories very well but I really like the new Hyundai Genesis 2.0T coupe. K go!

I think a new Civic SI 4dr is a good choice. It meets all of your requirements. A used RDX (only the SH-AWD model) is also a good choice, but the gas mileage isn't as good as it should be. But for new, Civic SI. The CR-Z is also awesome, but probably too small for her needs. |

Haha well I was talking to her this morning and the only car she specifically said she didn't want was a civic. I think that is a good choice too.
Forgot to add she likes things that have a little bit of character. Just to tell you about her choice of styling. She likes: -Volkswagen Kharmen Ghia -Audi TT -Lexus SC430 But she needs something more practical and new lol. Thanks for the input Wes. If you don't know by now I value your opinion very highly. As do I for the rest of you!

lol damn, I completely missed the part about not wanting a Civic. Fail!
If she doesn't mind getting a car that's slightly used, a G35 sedan is a good option. It's practical, comfortable, well-optioned, etc... The VQ engine will last til the end of the world (My QX4 just hit 160,000 miles and runs like it did on day 1). |

Question:
So cars over a certain age don't have to pass any emissions tests, right? Does that mean that a person can put an engine in the car that was never allowed in the USA and make it legal? |
