Pre-painted Bumpers
Can you purchase BMW parts pre-painted? Or, do they always ship with a primed finish? Need a new rear bumper cover 51128040567 and it shows primed on RealOEM but I was wondering if there was another avenue to get it pre-painted.
Thanks! |

Not in the US market. You would have to order directly from Europe (it would be a Euro version bumper w/o side marker slots). Talk to RennSpec about it.

In general why can you get prepainted parts in EU? Is this common across many brands? Thanks. |

No. It really depends on how well you have been keeping your paint. Properly washed, waxed, cared for - and it will be a perfect match. I got pre-painted front and rear bumpers after 2.5 yrs ownership (Mystic Blue) and it was a perfect match.

Sounds lucky. I have conflicting information. A very high end body shop that has German BMW certified mechanics and techs told me they always HAVE to spray on to bordering panels and reclear coat them as well. The problem is the very slight variation you get combined with a body line gap. Other pro body shop folks have told me the exact same story.

Rather than repaint a rock-chipped bumper, this is a great way to bring your M3 to like-new condition, and without the ugly reflectors . There's nothing better than OEM paint. |

FWIW, I haven't seen BMW specifically offer a pre-painted Euro bumper. You can go through multiple vendors here to do it, but I would advise against it. Not bashing their work, as they all do great work, but from what I have read, there will be slight color differences.
It's best to get the piece primed, take it to a reputable body shop, and have them color match it. This way, you'll get a perfect match with no issues.
