These are new lights. Two bigger, more tridimensional LED strips instead of the three LED strips on the current car. Besides, (most of) the other lights in the rear cluster are LED either.

The three strips are fed by LEDs, yes. The other lights (brake lights, turn indicator) aren't.

I doubt the only thing they are testing on the mules is LED tail lights lmao.
Hopefully some engine modifications and power bump.

Wonder how they actually look like behind the tape. First time I've ever seen a e92 with the steel roof and sunroof.
