Engine/tran removal
How feasible is it to unbolt the subframe from chassis, tophats of struts, and lift the hole body off of the drivetrain?
Going to be swapping this drivetrain into an e9. Motor has knock and I need to take it apart to asses damage. |

I think this is the easiest way to pull it out. Just disconnect the wires from the DME and driveshaft then you should be able to pull the motor and trans as one piece while keeping them bolted to the subframe and trans mount.

You can drop the engine/tranny while they are connected

It should be possible. I haven't done it but I have been under the car a lot and have taken my front sub frame off twice and supported the engine from above. Just have to remove all the lines/wires.

Yeah, just wanted to make sure it fits out the bottom. Don't want to disconnect it all just to hang up on something!
I didn't know there was a supercharged s65 running around in ABQ! I daily a blue n54 335 e92 6mt. Live up in the east mountains, but work in town. |

What pitch and thread are the bolts from the engine to transmission bellhousing. Want to grab some bolts to mount this up on the engine stand before i pull everything.
thank you |

The fastest way is from the bottom. Modern BMW powertrains are designed to be installed this way.
