2015 Golf R

Has anyone given any thought to the 2015 Golf R? 292 hp, 280 tq weighing in at roughly 3200 pounds. Pretty much a slimmed down version of the S3, which has already put down some decent numbers in tests.

It's hideous imo....I NEVER found myself interested in golfs. They should have brought the scirocco from Europe. Now THAT is a sleek lookin car!

Migth consider one to replace my Evo if they bring the 400hp wide body version but will most likely go with the RS3, still if they make it available here! This new Golf R and the S3 have been very well received by the journos so it's looking good for their sportier versions!!

I feel like we're in punishment and that's why we never receive widebody cars. A widebody gti would sell SOOOO FAST. But sadly, I doubt we'll ever see it.

Yeah, I doupt too that the R400 would come here, but I really see the RS3 arriving before the end of 2015. The CLA45 AMG is selling like hot cakes, BMW will have the M2, so Audi have no choice but to bring the RS3 IMO, I'm sure it could even outsell the CLA.

I have a 2012 Golf R I use as my DD.
I looked into trading up to a new one, and in Canada they will be hitting over $42000 plus tax the dealer told me. No way Im spending that sort of money on a Golf, I already paid too much for the R I have now(got a good deal actually, got it used with only 12000KMs on it).

Yeah 42k is a good amount of money for a hot hatch but when you think that people are spending 40-45k for STIs and 42-52k for Evos, it almost makes the new R look like a good deal, specially since it's much faster in straight line and much more luxurious then those two, and now it even seems that it's good on track too so you get a very good jack of all trades for this price!

Those cars are overpriced as well. The Golf interior is far superior and overall nicer package for sure.

I'm surprise to ear that, I've had a GTI 1.8t and a TT225 back in the days, both tuned with intake and a couple more bolt-ons and even if the were'nt the fastest cars, they were really fun cars to daily drive, one of the reason I'm looking foward to the R400/RS3 to get in addition to my M3. It sure is no supercharged S65 but the bottom end torque and the surge of those small turbos gives a really nice feeling. I assume that a tuned RS3 making ~450hp would be A LOT of fun to drive around town, I hope VW/Audi wont dissapoint us by not bringing them in North America!

THIS.

I better not be disappointed. That RS would be a game changer for me. I would get it in a couple of years. Rumored to have 350hp and awd..AND it's domestic (cheap parts).. SOLD

No one in their right mind is spending 40-50k on a new Evo.

LOL Tell that to my friend who just paid 46k before taxe for a 2014 GSR with handling package!! I personnaly think it's a very bad choice of car for the price, specially since he don't even track but that's what he wanted. : I paid less then half of that for my MR with 40k miles on it and 3years warranty left, now with my simple minor bolt-ons and tune I'm faster then him with his FBO and tune, thanks to my 6speed DCT vs his 5speed manual!!

And honestly as much as I love my Evo, I hate his, the car is so laggy between the shifts with the 5speed, it takes like 1sec before the turbo goes back into boost between each shifts, that sucks big time!! With my MR the shift are seemless you keep something like 10psi while the gear change, it's make all the differance!!

I seriously love this car as a winter beater and even as a daily driver, but I would have never paid the 48k asked for a brand new one, just so much better option for a non track guy!!

Gotta appreciate that powertrain though, I made 400hp on a Maha dyno with just UICP, test pipes, intake and cat-back, I'm even faster then my neighbors FBO 335i with JB4 that he trap 111-112mph with, that means it's probably also faster then a stock M3 like mine!

If I didn't have a company car for a daily, I'd highly consider the Golf R for that duty. I'd even consider the new GTI. I want to test drive both just for fun. I've always been a fan.

I totally hear u man, i like my golf r but idk y i dont love it tho.....i feel it doesnt have much soul or lacks in character....i will tell u one thing its super easy to get it to oversteer lol either that or my tires suck.....and idk audi and vw seem to never bring out the good stuff over here......i wouldnt hold ur breath on a rs3 but who knows....either way for a daily it would be out of my price range

I agree, the RS4 would be amazing, but even if it does come over we are prob looking at 2 years minimum.
