My new (kinda) daily
So last year around decided to get another car to daily since I truly love my M3 and didn't want to continue beating up the paint, mileage etc etc. now the M3 is under a cover in my garage and meet the new daily, 2011 STI I picked up in August. Ive been wanting to put up pics, but just never made a big effort to post them until now.
About the purchase, when I began to entertain the idea of another car, I was looking for something of about half the cost of the m3, something I can beat up, daily, get dirty, and not have to worry about door dings at the store, or someone messing with the car etc etc, but at the same time being fun to drive, I absolutely had to have something relatively sporty and fast, I narrowed it all down to either a Lancer Evolution, and the STi, I drove the lancer, and the lancer was fun, but the back seats were a little smaller, and the trunk space sucked(I do a lot of fishing and sometimes bring passengers, so that was important) the engine revs a little higher which I liked, but the engine was .5 liters smaller and I figured bigger is better, lol. The lancer also comes in a 5 speed manual and not a 6speed like the STi which drew me in to the STi a lot more, not to mention the classic Subaru Rumble of the flat 4. as far as the STI goes, it obviously doesn't compare to the M3 in terms of power, suspension, and over all feel of the car. However the STI is a blast to drive it made me almost wish I got the m3 in 6mt, but none the less the DCT in the M is bad ass. the STi considering it is 100% stock right now but have some basic mods like turbo back exhaust, tune, coils, and wheels. PS the car feels like a champion around the corners.. any feed back is appreciated, that's all, lol, sorry for the shitty pics, but here they are. enjoy

awesome car. i love Subies… however i do have some complaints. i hate how the steering wheel is so thin. i have the wheel offsets. i hate the style of the wheels (minus the BBS). i wish we got the JDM Recaros. I hate that the hp really hasn't changed in forever. I hate that headlight adjuster doesn't have more range. i hate that it gets terrible gas mileage. Besides that, love it.

but your right, I felt that way when driving it but then remembered that the car was only 30k. compared to a 70k m3 but yeah, it could use some work on the interior. I mainly went for it for the AWD,Turbo, and 6mt.

Former STI owner here. Nothing but love for the Subaru's.
You may want to look into a reflash such as a Cobb AP if you have not already. Many owners on the 08+ models have issues with lean conditions and detonation, sometimes leading to ring failure.

Same deal with me - however I went with the SUV/truck route because I thought I wouldn't mod an FJ cruiser.. that was partly true on the performance side but I ended up dumping $3k into audio upgrades.
Sweet car but man had I bought an STI like you I would have gone bezerk with the mods!

I love WRX/STI
I am in a hunt for a bugeye for cheap, but that's when I really need a beater daily commuter. I would always go for Subie just for the boxer rumble noise...!
