Tire and Wheel Warranty
For anyone that is fixin to buy an M3, get the Tire and Wheel warranty. It will be well worth the price. For $1750 a 3 yr, $1850 for 4 yr and I got the 5 yr for $1950...no brainer.
Since the M3 has no spare, all it takes is one flat and it will cost you $1600 for another wheel and tire for the "19" Light alloy Double-spoke wheels style 220M-with performance tires" option that I got. The dealer told me one wheel is $1000 and the tire could be $500 plus for another Michelin that it comes with. I checked Discount Tire and they are $450 range for the back tire. After having a flat at 70 mph going to LousyAna for Christmas in my truck, I did not think twice about buying the warranty. BMWM3RED |

I don't understand. Why would you need a new wheel if you get a flat? For 1600 you could buy 4 replacement 220's. I guess I'm missing something here.
Wheel tire warranty seems like a scam to me. |

Not just flat
I know what you are saying about "just a flat", that is not all that happens at 70 and you have a flat, you hit a "chuck hole", and bend the wheel all at the same time. In 5 years, a lot could happen. It would pay for itself just replacing one wheel and tire.

Just like life insurance, right? You get it for worst-case scenario. Some people like the piece of mind. A bent / curbed wheel is usually 75$-150$ for a professional to fix. Personally, I wouldn't buy it because I prefer other wheels.
Thanks for sharing op |

Bro, I think you just got Sanduskeyed.
I always wondered if people actually fell for, err... bought these "added-value warranties". Also for review or purchase is the underbody corrosion protection warranty. It piggybacks the original warranty and gives you extra peace of mind as well. Check the fine print though, if you brought in a punctured tire that is worn do they pro-rate the wear and tear? FWIW: PS2's are a little over $400 a tire. After almost 4 years of ownership and three e92 M3's I have never needed, nor worried about not having, wheel/tire coverage. I've blown more than a few tires on the freeway in my 20+ years of driving, never have the wheels suffered any more damage than what Son Tran could repair for $40. Unless you constantly drive your M3 on dirt roads, then nevermind...and hey, it's your money, but you posted. Cheers.

They don't, BMW (in Canada) will replace a new tire no questions asked. They will do this regarding if the tires are run-flat or not.

I paid $1250 for the five year plan.... It has already paid for itself and then some... Hit a nasty pot hole that bubbled two of my side walls and cracked one of my wheels... All replaced under the warranty

Like all insurance, it's a waste of money until it isn't. I bought the insurance on my first M3 for $1000, and within the first week had a broken piece of chain stuck in the tread, too close to the sidewall to repair. That was new tire #1. A few months later I hit a huge, unavoidable pothole that took out one tire and bent two rims, one irrepairable. Replacement tire #2, and replacement rim #1. I had two more repairable flats (a screw and then a nail) after that. So all in all, it was totally worth it for me. FWIW: I live in Boston so that raises my odds of this stuff happening.

I got the insurance and only time will tell if it is worth it. I do know however, that if the rim is damaged in any way but can still hold air then it is not covered. Bummer.

Everyone's luck is different. In the 12 years driving my last BMW, I probably bent 3 wheels and replaced 8-10 tires due to road hazard issues. So I opted for the insurance for 3 years. It may or may not pay for itself. Like others said, it's peace of mind.

I'm on the fence on the tire insurance...(but wish I had it at this point)
I have RFTs and in the course of 2 1/2 years I had to pay for three tires so far. First one cost me $470 installed at dealership after I took my car in with a flat. Then both front tires got huge bubbles on the sidewalls and had to replace them for $650 total. Now the rear that I paid almost 500 bucks has a huge bubble and will need replacement again!!! So total so far $1120 and I am not done yet. Never had this problem in CA but it all changed after I moved to MD |

I might have bought their shill, but my dealer only offered the insurance through a third party. The terms were ridiculous, so I passed. Other dealers may offer better plans.

I managed to get the 3 yr warranty (3rd party, not BMW) for $750. Within the first 6 months of owning my car, I picked up two nails into the sidewall of my PS2s. Dealer charged $500 for replacing the tire (both times) so it has definitely paid for itself and I wouldn't consider it a waste of money.
Here's the big thing though: i was fairly worked up after my first flat but the 2nd time I got a flat, I was actually not mad at all because I knew that the insurance would pick up the tab. I call it the "emotional hedge". |

Germany has some of the best roads in the world. I've seen how meticulous road works crews are there. Chicago roads built with union labor are some of the worst in the world. There are potholes so big that families have lost children for months, only to find them living with feral dogs in these cave-like potholes.
Last winter I hit one on Lake Shore Drive that bent two wheels beyond repair. I like my warranty, thank you. |

I got 5 years for $1300. The finance guy knocked off $100 and wouldn't go any lower. However, it's definitely worth it for peace of mind. The prices OP stated are a little steep. It really depends on the dealer. You only get one chance to purchase this through BMW(at the time of sale). I PM'd one of the members to see how much he paid. He did really well, $1100 for 5 years. Also, I scratched my rim on the first day I brought my car home. And THAT was covered. Yeah, it hasn't paid for itself yet, but I'm not so worried if I hit a pothole.
Also, if you are in a nice area where you don't get a lot of snow with nice highways, I guess you can get away with not purchasing. NY/NJ area is a crapshoot. Also, as much as we have to change our tires, I'm thinking chances are good that it'll be in good condition when shit goes down that they will cover it. OP, sorry to hear about your troubles.

i can attest to the need for tire insurance if you live in the tri-state (NJ/NY/CT). The roads here are horrible. I have had to replaced ~5 run-flats in the past 2 years, so it definitely paid for itself.

Run-flats are another whole story bro. They have a horrible history and are extremely expensive to replace.
