328i xdrive rough idle and misfires

Engine idles extremely rough and misfires on 4,5,and 6 with check engine light. I have replaced the eccentric position sensor and cleaned the VANOS. If I unplug the eccentric position sensor, engine runs much better. Any suggestions on what to check?
