Help w/ ESS E Flash driver install

Got my E Flash software from ESS last night. Installed on my computer with the included cable connected to a USB port as stated in the instructions. However, it appears that the driver just isn't installing. I start the E Flash program up and get to the "Looking for communications hardware" step where it fails due to "USB device not found". I've uninstalled/reinstalled the software a couple times, but no luck. Anyone else had this driver problem? How did you solve it? I'm using a 64-bit version of Win 7, if that matters.

Does the E Flash cable need to not only be plugged into the computer but also to the OBD2 port during the install as well? That's the only thing I can think of that I haven't tried yet.

You need to have the cable plugged into the OBD2 port of the car as well to get past that step.

It did have it plugged into the OBD2 port during that stage, but the problem is my driver isn't properly installing. Does the cable have to be plugged into the OBD2 port during the software installation to get the driver to install properly? The instructions made it seem like the cable only needs to be plugged into your computer during installation.

I only needed to have the cable plugged into my computer to install the software when I did it. If you're able to run the software, I'm assuming the drivers installed correctly. In order to get past the step you're describing of the ESS E-Flash program, you need to have the cable plugged into the car & have the car turned to "On."
BTW, mine also says "USB device not found" when I try to run the program with only the cable plugged into my computer.

Yeah I had it plugged into the car and it was on. When you plug the E flash cable into your computer and look at your devices and printers does it show up with error code 28, no driver installed? Mine does, which is making me think the driver installation could be failing. The driver install could fail and the software would still run.

Mine is labeled the same, "ESS Flash USB". However, I have a little yellow warning sign by it. When I go into the properties it says I have no device driver installed.

Post Message me if you have this issue

Got the updated driver from ESS so if anyone comes across this issue, I had to email ESS for the updated driver and he also sent the smg 3 transmission tune because these smg 3 trans' cannot be read, only programmed.
