Help identifying this hard line

Hi, I'm attaching a new undertray and, as you can see from the picture, it is touching a hard line near the engine. The picture is taken from the right side passenger wheel well, where I've pulled the liner back. You can see I've put a couple pieces of gorilla tape there to avoid metal on metal.



What line is this? AC? Power Steering? And how does it attach? What type of fitting? I would like to bend it up a bit out of the way. Currently, the tray pushes it up a few mm.

Any thoughts on a good way to bend the line without removing it or stressing the fittings?

Follow it to an end and loosen the bolt and rotate it and retighten. Or use a short section of split rubber hose over it with zip ties to hold the split hose in place. Or use longer zip ties to pull the hose up. It likely won’t cause any issues. Your motor should not be moving much.

Thanks. Is it power steering? If I loosen the bolt(s) to rotate the line will I leak fluid? Not difficult to add a little if I do. If it's AC then I wouldn't really want to do that...

I like your idea of a split hose, if the line can't be moved/ bent.

I'm having a difficult time orienting myself in that picture but it looks like power steering. You can probably just give it a little push/bend and it will be OK. Or ziptie it to the line above to keep it out of the way. I agree with phonsalb above on putting a split rubber hose around and zip tying.

Thanks, the orientation is a bit hard. The camera is looking mostly straight across the front of the car, just inside the fender. The hole in the fender liner in the bottom left is the fender liner's screw hole that typically attaches to the felted corner piece. If that helps.

If I loosen the bolt to rotate the line I suspect I'll lose a bit of fluid, right? I presume I can just add fluid, or is it a system I'd need to bleed?

no, dont do that. The crush washers on the PS lines are 1 time use. just push (bend) the line upwards.

return pipe off the powersteering cooler, this goes to the rack but it is attached to the subframe via brackets. Dont try loosening anyhting, just bend the line.

Ok I bent the line (a very little). I did undo the small clamp connecting with a small bolt the line to the subframe(?). It's the small rusty bit between the two hard lines in the picture above. By doing that I was able to insert a washer which lifted the line a few mm. It now is against the rubber line above. I put a tube sleeve on in with zip ties. With any luck it will be off the under tray and off the rubber line and all will be right with the world...
