What is this part?

Yesterday I had my car in BMW garage as I was getting some engine light occasionally.

The guy told me that they changed some part in VANOS but could not explain exactly what it was.

I just have a picture. Does anybody recognize this part?

Thanks Alpine, that is that part which is preventing vanos from blowing secondary cat I suppose???

Its a solenoid valve that redirects oil pressure to change valve timing.
