E92 coupe MY09 spec for ED (euro)

So, I think I have finally settled on a spec after more than a year on this board - and it'll be 2 yrs by the time I go to Die Welt for pick-up.

E92 MY09

* JzB / FR extended (seen this combo and love it, rationally an easier color match if [when!] scratched would suggest Jet Blk, so clear bra a must)
* 6MT (yes, have driven both, I just preferred the involvement of the old tech, dinosaur that I am)
* 18s (think I will get 19s later - not enamoured of the std 19s' shiny finish - I want black rims)
* Tech (for EDC, navi and CA)
* Premium (carbon)
* moonroof (I realize - as this has been the root of many heated debates on m3post - that it's not as sporting but all my cars have had a 'roof and I enjoy it more than I need a slightly lower center of gravity. Period. And yes, I have seen the CF roof and if it came w/ a 'roof then we're good!)
* heated seats (cold mornings in winter; wife's 5er has 'em and they're toasty)
* satellite radio (TX, long distances, no decent radio, and I like financial / NFL news)
* power sunshade (gets hot here in summer!)

For Euro delivery in middle of 2009.

Went to Die Welt in München this summer: it is freakin' awesome. My wife said: "you should pick up your next Bimmer here.." (she is Bavarian so likely biased ) Thoroughly recommend a trip there! (see my pics below)

Any thoughts before I send this in? I have read up on Premium -vs- Base audio and, well, I would rather put those $$$ towards a trick exhaust

I like your specs...a lot.

The only thing I would change is to add premium audio. The base audio was simply not acceptable to me. The sound was completely flat, and there's no equalizer to improve it to your tastes. The premium audio certainly isn't the greatest OEM system I've heard, but it's definitely passable, especially after tweaking the equalizer settings.

Once you've put in your order, you can play around with your aftermarket spec list to help pass the time. From what I know of you, this should include:

(1) Clear bra
(2) Radar detector (I can do the hardwire for you)
(3) Tinted windows
(4) Painted or clear side markers
(5) Aftermarket wheels
(6) SSK
(7) Aftermarket exhaust
(8) OEM or aftermarket aluminum pedals

I can think of a few other things, but these will keep you busy for awhile.

I think the car is very nice as is....and I say kudos for not getting what BMW calls it a premium audio.....

After reading all the discussions in here about the audio I went in and listen to both systems at the dealer... The logic 7 in my 335 was better than both and there is no way I can justify dishing out extra $$$. Pretty hard to believe but 4 SA's I spoke with at the dealership also agreed with me and indicated that it is a waste of money.....

I agree that the premium audio option is ridiculously overpriced for what you get and I also agree that there are better OEM systems out there, but if you are unwilling to install an aftermarket setup yourself (or pay to have one installed), you don't have much of a choice because the base system is unacceptably bad.

OK, have made one change and after chatting w/ TLud - who knows more than me about the subject - and also considered that I don't have time to custom-fit audio. I did - in the end - choose to upgrade. Have an EQ in one of our 5ers and must admit, the tuning does make sense. Also the need to give time to 'burn in' the speakers.

So, as we say in Oz, I'll give it a whirl.

Still won't stop me from considering short-throw shifter and exhaust later

I very much appreciate everyone's constructive comments

I put in the specs today!

Will keep me busy ... and, broke I have a V1 (actually, two of 'em, and w/ the night display)

[1] clear bra for sure - it is TX, after all
[2] ditto - got it on all our cars
[3] may lean towards exhaust or SSK before 19s

Like all the rest too! But .. I'm getting ahead of myself as I won't pick up the car for 6m

Thanks BW! But I think after 18m it's not so problematical - and worth the wait to drive to Provence and Paris in an M-car

Will do. Hell, I took about 30 photos of Die Welt on my June visit this year and I wasn't even picking up a car (I have a long-suffering wife)

That's what my wife said. Now I'm starting to wonder - before I sign the final paperwork (after speccing it all via online & email w/ dealer) should be getting a bit more shaved off the deal (invoice premium).

I realize I won't be getting under invoice on ED.

minor changes to spec

Update:

Paid deposit, take deliv 1st week June. Two changes to spec:

+ Smartphone (why not, not a lot extra)

+ 19s
* concession to wife who did not like the 18s and who would prefer I did not blow $5k+ on new rims/rubber just after taking delivery OK, can wait for while on black rims and the marginal cost, again, is not so huge.

Only 140+ days to go ... <need a tapping finger smiley too>

The Austin BMW dealer is great to deal w/ - the CA was patient & not high-pressure; knowledgeable too.
