SA valve stuck open. Where to buy parts for SAP delete?
I was doing exhaust smoke machine test for all-cylinder high RPM misfire on bank 2 and, as I suspected for awhile, it looks like SA valve (or both) are stuck open.
It's a track car, so it's time for SAP delete. Is there a place I can buy cover plates in US? Should I buy any special tools? |

You can pull the SAP motor, fuse, relay, hoses and valves (pita). The block off plates you need are stock for the M3 GTS. There are a couple of threads out there with the part number IIFC. If you can't find it via search I should be able to pull it from my subscriptions.

I put in the order for plates, gaskets, nuts and intake plug. Let's see when it actually ships, fingers crossed.
Smoke machine is connected to exhaust, but smoke is coming out from SAP air intake. I think it means that SA valve is stuck in open position. I would love to leave it in place and code it out, but I think open valve eventually will lead to rapture of intake tubes from hot exhaust gasses and to massive exhaust leak. So I have no choice, but to take them out with all the PITA it entails. 😐 |

Nah, I already have the suckers out. It is an unusual, rare engine, it's harder to find real professional to deal with it than to do it yourself.
Now I have to wait for the parts, which should arrive mid-February I wonder if somebody can sell them faster to me. Notice one valve is rusty, other has carbon in it. To my surprise right valve was leaking, I expected left since bank 2 was misfiring. |

From top of engine. Remove wire harness, rear engine lift hook. It's not at all that bad with S-bent ratcheting wrenches.

I tried to order through ECS Tuning, but one of the cover plates is backordered, I assume forever.
Any leads on where to get them? Or are they gone for good? |

Take that gasket to a machine shop and have them cut some metal plates based on that shape. Should be easy and cheap.

Yep, this is my backup plan. I actually think I can cut the valves and have somebody weld them shut. But it would be easier just to get the plates. 🙃

What are the dimensions you need? I have these left over from my STI. These are 1.5mm thick.

Mine look similar, but way thicker - 9mm. Also, there is attachment point on the side for the heat shield , so using third-party may lead to extra heat shield vibrations, which is suboptimal on the track car. |
