Old Forum Vet, Different Story....Crying Like a Bitch
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I just took delivery of an SSII e92 ///M3 ordered on March 31, 2011 from Thompson BMW, in Doylestown, PA. Some of you may recognize my screen name, many may not. I date back on these forums to before there was an ///M3 Post; I was also here for when Savage posted the first pics and review of the e9x ///M3; here before Lucid and PG were mods & then just members again; I even had the privilege of being banned by JASON after a heated argument with SWAMP (my old screen name was mesier1111)-----I know, I know---- sad & pathetic to get banned for arguing, especially since Footie has managed to argue with SWAMP for years without being banned----again, never claimed to be very smart. That being said, to SWAMP….. I will not be reviewing the car, because I could say nothing that you all haven’t heard half a dozen times, nor have I included a ton of pics, because again, you have seen 100s of e92 SSII ///M3s. Rather, I will tell you my story…..but feel free to ask questions if there are any, as well as any 335i to ///M3 questions as I obviously can speak from a point of experience. I owned one of the first 335i’s in the country (June ’06 build), it was my first BMW (could not afford one before then) & it was one of the first cars exchanged through the collateral exchange program due to an 8 week back-order on the famed HPFP. That being said I loved my e92 N54 powered 3-series from the day I bought her to yesterday, the day I waived goodbye. She was there through my dark days, and was the first car I ever let go….every car before that died with more than 150K miles on them, leaving me no option (my 335i was traded with 59k miles and running as good as the day I bought her). What all of you may not know is that this is not the fad or desire of the week for me as I have wanted an ///M3 since 1995, since I was 17 years young…….and first became obsessed with them when I saw my first e46 ///M3 in person while attending the University of Miami law school (Fall 2001). I still have an exact photo shot in my head of where I saw that yellow ///M3, right down to the exact parking lot and space……some things cannot be forgotten. I can appreciate and admire other cars and other manufacturers but my first and only love is BMW and more specifically the BMW ///M3…..I never considered anything else, as they have always disappointed me in the past. You will never hear me complain about or criticize this car…..not because its perfect but because its perfect for me, and I appreciate what it took for BMW to produce her. What all of you do not know (and probably don’t care about) is that I went from Wall Street, to poor street to owning and operating two successful companies in only 4 years…4 very long years…and all because I chose to walk away from it all (the Wall Street $$) to pursue what my heart told me was right. Its fitting that the car of my dreams is a clear stamp that the last 4-years of my life have paid off. Below are not pics of my car, but pics that my beautiful and supportive wife took without me knowing, they are pics of a grown man reduced to tears when a dream, and the culmination of 15 years of hard work became reality…..I fully understand that the car, as special as it is to me, is a dime a dozen to the rest of you----lets face it, you all own one and have 10,000 pics of them, hence why the pics are less about the car, and more about 1 man’s travels to fulfill a dream. Some quick Facts: 1) I will track her, already have 4 days planned this season, depending on when I can finish up the break-in. 2) No, I don't miss my tuned N54's torque.....this beast has plenty of it even at low rpms. 3) My options List: Speed cloth (called anthracite now) & Manual seats, DCT (MT convert), EPS, ZCP, BMW Apps, NAV, SSII. To all the people who I have pissed off with my opinionated posts, and will continue to piss off……..you get the last laugh as you can laugh at a grown man crying like a 5-year old…..an ugly grown man at that. Thanks for taking the time to visit / read my thread and if you live in the northeast I will see you on the track. Pics below include: 1) The 335i with the winter wheels and tires still on her because the summers were dead so I was milking these to avoid buying tires before getting the ///M 2) A grown man crying on one knee in front of a life long dream realized 3) A grown man on his ass putting wheel wax on the wheels before putting the first miles on her......I know, I'm pathetic

Beautiful car...I didn't put wheel wax on for the drive home since I only live 1.5 miles form the dealer. I did consider it though...he he. Enjoy your dream and treat and beautify the car like it would be your last. It's what I do. My 2.5 year old 2009 M3 Coupe has a whopping 3800 miles; several track days; and still looks better than the day I brought it home on November 7, 2008 at 5:32 pm (it was the only non-raining day of the month!).

Congrats. I understand how you feel. It was similar for me when I finally saved up and bought mine at age 39. I had dreamed of owning the BMW since I was 22.

Congrats. I too went through an up and serious down before being able to afford my ///M. It's a reward to myself for tons of sleepless nights because of work in addition to my house...so it's more than just a car to me as well.

Fifteen years ago, I was living on $350/month including rent (3roomates in a one bedroom apt) and everything else. Walked miles to save $1.20 bus ticket. Now a physician with an M3. Completely understand and feel your story. When I look at my car I don't just see an M3, I see a long story. Enjoy it, you earned it.
