PT-CAN BUS wiring. Help please!
Hi,
I'm fitting a data logger on my E90 M3 (02/2009 build). I need to give it access to PT-CAN information, but I've searched for countless hours and I still cannot find a definitive answer as to where to tap in. I have a friend who has worked on a M3 GT4 and he says there were two loose CAN lines available on the right hand side of the car (near the gear lever) which he used for the same purpose. I tried to find them on my M3 without any luck However, I did find a loose two wire plug (orange/blue & brown) hanging from the wiring loom that goes behing the JBE module. I find it strange that it could be a CAN plug, since I're read people talking about custom harnesses and taping in the JBE connectors. So, who has done it? Do I need to tap in one of the JBE plugs? Which pins please? I promise to write up a DIY afterwards Thanks in advance. |

Still digging some more info.
According to the performance steering wheel retrofit, it seems plug X14271 on the JBE is what I'm looking for. Pins 1 and 2. Wires should be Red + Blue/Red. However, I don't know if the pinout is the same for the M3 vs regular E90 series. Can anyone confirm? |

For the record: I have confirmed PT Can data on pins 1 and 2 on the X14271 plug.
I'm still setting up the data logger. I'll post a DIY soon. |
