I run 275 tires on them so I get some additional effective width vs the regular 10" wheels people use for 275 tires.

For example, the 275 R1 runs wide for a 10" wheel. On the 10.5" it has very slight stretch or simply a straight sidewall.

On a set of 295 R888R (horrible piece of shit tire, my God...) the tire is clearly too wide for the wheel and it looks 'pregnant'

Based on my experience, if I wanted to run the 275 front and 285 rear R1 I'd want an 11" rear to properly support it
Cool. I tend to agree. I have 10/11 wheels now. 295's fit great on an 11". I have 285's in the front and I think a 10.5 is a better fit. Will likely increase the front wheel width the next time around. However I have also been contemplating fitting 10.5 square with 295's.
