I'm a big fan of BaT. I've purchased a car there (sight unseen) and plan on selling a couple cars there this summer.
That being said, I have definitely observed shill bidding and duplicitous cheerleading from the peanut gallery in the comments threads. I've also seen many cars represented as stock/unmodified that clearly were previously modded and then un-modded prior to sale.
Conspiracy theorists should keep in mind that different cars do much better in some geographies than others. Hence, you have flippers in a given region often buying a certain make/model of car from another region where market pricing is lower.
5% buyer fees are automatically charged to a required registered credit card. So I really doubt there is the type of collusion as has been suggested.
