Quick story. Ran with 7 other E9x and F80's yesterday. 8 total cars. There were 8 DCT cars and 0 manuals. Spoke to every car owner and all answers were identical. To sum up the responses as to why the decision to purchase one over the other: DCT was faster, I find it to be as engaging if not more than manual, car was cheaper than similar manual cars.
Make a list of what is most important to you. If you find that car and it happens to have DCT then maybe it's not the worst decision you could make. Some people give up CF roof for a sunroof or give up the better stereo or perhaps a color. Giving up manual for a transmission that might actually be more engaging to you and cheaper to purchase just might be an ok plan.
