Just for anyone who may be freaking out about this, here's a photo I took while doing my valve covers, I didn't realize this was an issue at the time, so I didn't even check to see if they were cracked/brittle. FWIW my car has 166k on it. So maybe climate has something to do with it? My car has always been a southeast car, so no frigid temps. That's all I can think of.
