Brake pedal travel

I had brand new pads put in my car about a month ago. Dumb mistake on my part was not realizing the rotors were worn down to the minimum thickness. Long story short, I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to bbk.

Tonight my buddy helped me installed the bbk (stoptech st60/40). After the install we took it out to bed in the pads and first thing I noticed was the pedal travel. Before with on oem brakes with new pads I can engage the brakes when I press the pedal about 1/4” to 1/2” . Now with the stoptech I feel the pedal needs to go down to about 1/2”+ to engage the brakes. Pretty sure we bled the brakes properly. My buddy is a master tech at Mercedes and he was quite thorough. He drove tested the brakes out and said it feels normal, wouldn’t know about the travel if I didn’t tell him.

This normal for the stoptech? Performance wise the bbk grabs and stops on a dime.
