To be honest the more I look at it the more I think this damage is not caused by a hammer, more likely these are pressure marks from a ball joint tool. Sure it sucks anyway, but at least there is a big chance the damage is only cosmetic.
If it keeps bothering me I'll just replace it as the control arm costs less than 50€. I think I have zero chances to have it covered by that shop given the funcionality is not affected.
