Consumption on the RL 5w50 really has dropped to near-zero. I won't go lighter than this now that I have the BE bearings in given their recommendation and the slight increase in clearance.

My car now has 110,000 miles on it. Bearings were changed after a spike in lead on the oil analysis on two successive changes, at 102,500 approximately, and I've had two changes since then with no consumption at all. Going to run this change to my usual interval of 6-7k miles and see what it does.

I am no longer a 0w40 Mobil 1 fan after dealing with the consumption. It may not hurt anything, but it's annoying, and I'd rather spend the extra money on the oil than have to top up the oil every 2,000 miles.

YMMV
What brand did you use for 5w40 ? Castrol Edge or shell T6?
