Warp 10 Motorsports 2011 E92 M3 Build Log

Hello all,

I have been on the forums since I bought my car in 2011. Car started life as a Black on Fox Red Comp package car. As soon as I bought the car I started tracking it. To break the car in before the first track day a week after delivery my father and I took the new M3 and his new 2011 Boxster Spyder, loved that car! As the track hobby started I was hooked and hooked bad. Mods starting coming in weekly, sometimes daily?.The car has been through a number of wheel changes (OEM Comp Wheel, TE37?s, now 3 Sets of Apex ARC-8?s), several suspension changes (GC Coilover Conversion, KW Clubsports, and now MCS 2 Ways), Exhaust changes ( OEM Xpipe with Corsa, AA Catted Xpipe with Corsa, AA Catless Xipep with Corsa, and finally AA Catless with BImmerworld Race Exhaust), and the list goes on?.. Listed below will be the a detailed list of all modifications to the car and as it sits now. Also listed will be planned future modifications. The goal in this Build Log is for people to learn from my mistakes and successes. As the list below goes through I will list any issues or nuggets of wisdom I can think of? Please ask question and comments. So here we go??

P.S. Will add pics as I can find them..

ENGINE:

Stock Internals

Rod Bearings Replaced at 28K (for the love of your car if you are tracking please go ahead and replace these?.cheap insurance)

Running Motul 300v 15w50 (This weight was recommended by Bimmerworld and I have been really impressed with the Motul Product line)

Pipercross Air Filter

Alexshop Oil Cooler

CSF Radiator and Power Steering Cooler (also Bimmerworld Power Steering Reservoir), soon to be replaced with Electric Power Steering

Bimmerworld Motor Mounts

Markert Motor Works Dyno Tune

Notes: Engine has not burned oil between oil changes. I have changed the oil every 4 events or so?.

TRANSMISSION:

Stock Internals and Cooler

Temp Sensor

Replaced oil and mounts at 28k (not really need but preventative)

Evolve GTS Tune

Notes: Added trans temp sensor and have not seen temps that concern me and have yet to have a trans temp warning. Car has never used Launch Control.

SUSPENSION:

MCS 2 Way Non Remote OEM Rear Spring Location (If you are going to a True Rear Coil MCS and Bimmerworld Highly Recommend bracing the rear shock towers)

Hypercoil Springs 800F/1000R

Ground Control Race Camber/Caster Plates

Bimmerworld Suspension Pieces Front and Rear

Notes: Had KW Clubsports for a little while and really liked them but the MCS are a whole nother level. If I was to do it again MCS all day. Bimmerworld Pieces are great and really allow you to take advantage of any coilover setup because of the added adjustments you get.

BRAKES:

Stoptech ST60 Fronts only

OEM Rears

PFC 11/01 All Around

Titanium Plates for Front

SS Lines

Cantrel Motorsports Brake Ducts

SRF Fluid

Notes: I have yet to find a need to go to the Stoptech Rears. Maybe in the Future to help speed up brake pad changes but unlikely at this point. SRF Fluid is great for me as it cuts down on the need to flush the system more than once a year. Bleed every oil change. Pads are changed at a 3 to 1 ration. So for every 3 Front sets go through 1 Rear set.

EXHAUST:

Active Autowerks Catless X Pipe (slightly modified see notes)

Bimmerworld Racing Muffler (Stupid Light and grea sound)

Notes: AA X pipe comes with V Band Clamps that hang below the car reducing ground clearance. Had a exhaust shop cut those out and weld in SS piece. Solved the clearance issue.

WHEELS AND TIRES:

18x10 et 25 Apex ARC 8 (3 sets (2 dry and 1 wet)

275/35r 18 DH Pirelli or 280/650/18 Yoko A005 or 285/650/18 Cont

10 MM Spacers

AERO:

GT4 Replica front splitter with ducting

Bmw performance rear spoiler

APR GT250

Bimmerworld Carbon Whiskers

INTERIOR:

Fully Stripped except dash and headliner

Alexshop Half cage

Scrothe 6 point belts

Sparco Ergo seats

Aim MXG dash and logger

Aim Smarty Cam

OMP steering wheel

Works bell paddles

CoolShirt System ( a must)

Notes: pulled most of the interior myself. Fairly easy save the $ and do it yourself if you are decent with a wrench. Coolshirt is worth every penny if you are in a war climate. I have learned more from the Data collected by them Aim system than I have driving out right. Also makes it fairly easy to send to driving coaches who will assess the data most of the time at no charge, at least in my experience.

DRIVE LINE:

M Factory Carbon Drive Shaft

Stock Diff

Diff Cooler

Motul 75w140

Euro MDM

Notes: Diff overheats with MDM or EDC off. The overflow is a nice solution and you know when your overheating when you smell the diff fluid which smells terrible. When I ran NT01 this was not much of a problem but definitely is with the slicks.

PLANNED UPGRADES / MODS

Paddels and Steering wheel:

I have the final touches coming on a completely removable steering wheel with paddles and button plate. This will allow the steering wheel to be removed as one unit with the paddels and button plate. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1328041

Full Cage is coming with in a year or so.

Differential Cooler: Already have parts just have to fab lines and install. Bimmerworld has a kit. Installed

A/C Delete: A/C condenser blocks radiator and hurts cooling so it has to go. Compressor can be removed fairly easily on a 08 car but on anything after that you will have to get a PS pump that turn the other way. There is a thread on this that I will link to.

What I am doing is removing AC condenser and looping the lines that run into it. This removed the condenser and keep the compressor lubricated while a solution is made for the pulley and belt routing.

All above taken out when coverted to Electric Power Steering

That's it for now hope you all find this informative.
