Maybe it's just me, but when I spend $700 on my phone I surround it with protection as much as possible without being intrusive.
Although I generally buy a phone and keep it for as many years as possible, because I'm cheap. Like on my Google Pixel I have the best tempered glass screen protector I could locate, as well as a rugged impact-proof case.
