Sounds like they over complicated it big time. I don't see why they would use a razor blade to remove the gel coat as it peels off easily once it's chipped? Front and rear windshields don't need to be removed. Perhaps the weather stripping. You shouldn't need to sand the carbon fiber before applying clear either otherwise you run the risk of damaging the weave. I basically did exactly what the other comment did and it came out like new.
