Screwdriver+tape method definitely wasn't working for me due to the limited space to get leverage. Didn't buy trim tools to try that way either. Ended up using zip ties (two of them) looped through the honeycomb as close to the front of the car and then pulling it out. The rest from there is self explanatory.
