Mazda's strong suit has never been their motors (13B-MSB is pretty much the worst offender of this), what you need in a daily driver is passing power, which this does plenty fine for the segments they are in. 0-60 time is irrelevant for majority of the population and only matters on a spec sheet
What Mazda has always done well is handling, intangible factors, this is the highlight for all their current and past cars.
