I was recently considering trading in my M3 E92 for a 335is with N54 and was able to test drive a IS model, but I was let down with the 335is performance
The car is nice and all, but the N54 engine puts the power way too smoothly and refined than what I thought it was; an aggressive torque happy car.
Also upon revving the car I was surprised that it sounded decent, however it really is nothing compared to the S65, but noticed how much it reminded me of the S55 in the F80 that doesn't really have character.
That's the main thing that these turbo-inline-sixes were bereft of; a soul.
