Yes, the e92 335i had overheating issues as well. Other cars like the 370z too... but the Civic Type R is advertised as a track car - the main selling point is the fast lap time on track. You'd figure Honda engineers would place more thought into the cooling off the car. Instead they shipped a half-baked product figuring most buyers would never track their cars.
Sounds like CTR's have a lot in common with Z06's, GT350 electronics pack, Mustang GT PP1 & PP2, or SC'd E9x M3's. Forced induction cars are especially tough to keep cool. I agree that when an OEM markets a car as "Type R" and the R stands for Racing, then it should have sufficient heat dissipation!
