That DIY doesn't explain the reinforcement bars for the E93. I was able to remove the 5 nuts in the center mount where the bars meet. This should provide you with enough space to slide the connecting pipes through, as the bars are pretty flexible. Doing this shouldn't mess with the chassis. Not sure about the torque specs but those nuts were on pretty tight for me. Nothing a 1/2" ratchet couldn't undo though.
