everything you have found is accurate. you're on the mark.
while there may be some internal CBS system to note things like diff oil changes, but as you're already aware, its not displayed on the idrive system.
i had to show a service advisor at the dealer the specific literature (on the bmwusa website) stating that m3 plugs are due at 37,500 mile intervals, not the third service like the 1m (which would put the mileage at 55k, following 15k oil service intervals).
they still bellyached about it, but did it.
i'm probably going to do my diff oil about every 30k-ish. i track the car, so i want to be conservative on the intervals. just do both services and make a mental note of the mileage.
