Had the exact same concern when I got my E90. Wanted OEM+ suspension refresh with minimal lowering, so I got the Bilstein EDC/Eibach combo along with fresh strut mounts and hardware.

Car rides great, nice and tight without being harsh. EDC modes feel better than before when I was on stock shocks and H&R springs. However, it definitely gained some ride height in the front. Pretty much had no finger gap all around with H&R’s, but the Bilstein/Eibach combo jacked the front up 2 fingers (~1.5 in). Rear was not as much, went up like 1/2 a finger, so had some reverse rake going on. Found some E9x spacers for the rear springs (avail in Europe) and it leveled out nicely.

My M3 sits at 2-finger gap in front, and 1-finger in back. Pretty sure it’s stock comp pkg height. I know that’s too high for many guys here but I love it. Still looks low enough to me and I can roll over speed bumps and driveway ramps without wincing. The front fender naturally sits higher than the rear, so when wheel gap is equal all around there’s a pronounced forward rake. At least on the sedan anyway. That always bugged me with the H&R's…among other things. I've read that Swift springs work pretty well with Bilstein EDC as well, and possibly a tad lower.
