I had this same issue on a prior 328. I know there is a reset procedure for the stops to learn their home position but they also fail which requires a whole new assembly. What I ended up doing was putting them back in their normal position and undoing the cover and disconnecting the two wires that power the mirror fold portion only. I did try the reset. I actually tried a few different ones. So far I've only been able to align one, the passenger. I'm close on the drivers side, but I can't seem to quite get it. It is seriously pissing me off. I know it's silly, but I hate when there is an issue with my car, no matter what it is. You know?
