Sorry but I think closing that hood vent is a stupid idea. I am sure BMW engineers know 1000x more than just about anyone on here when it comes to designing an efficient intake. A V8 that revs to 8300 rpm and makes 104 hp/liter needs a good amount of air otherwise the engine would run out of breath far earlier. There is a reason the vent is there.
