Engine builders love blaming the tuners for poor work, and vice versa. Thus, a combined hardware/software upgrade as a package would the ideal package.

Then You are not the target customer. Things mostly turn out ok in life with reputable people. Sometimes they go awry. If you aren’t willing to take that risk then you are the target customer of new car companies or Dinan tuning that will warranty such items.
Using the underlying Dinan tech here should give you great comfort. If it doesn’t then that’s more of an issue with your personal comfort level. Which is totally understandable. Everyone is different.
