I agree with this... I wouldn't be quick to generalize the F8X as bad. Same can be said for the E9X M3 owners who jumped back into an E46 M3. There are just certain things from each M-car generation that are always going to appeal more to different owners.
Having said that, I would love to add and E90 M3 as a stablemate to my E46 M3 down the road. If I were to do something new off the current M lineup, I would probably take an M2 over the M4. It may not perform as well as the M4, but overall the car just appeals to me more.
